For Effective Weight Loss - Curb Hunger And Avoid The Binge

Curb Hunger and Avoid The Costly Binge
Everyone's been there - you miss a meal or you are getting used to a lower calorie phase of your nutrition plan when the munchies hit. You grab the nearest and quickest food available - usually a high carb snack food - and you chow down. And to add insult to injury you find yourself hungry again just as quickly as someone who didn't snack!
The best thing you can do to avoid this is to plan ahead and always have a meal ready to go quickly. Sure, this can't always be done but it'syour best bet to avoiding binges.
When hunger pangs hit - DO SOMETHING! And I don't mean eat. Drink water, go for a walk, etc. You'll find that the hunger pangs subside in about10 minutes or so - unless you've missed a meal and are really hungry.
If you must snack, make sure to always have high protein food available. You'll stay fuller longer as it takes your body more time to digest protein.
Try to keep some of these things handy -
Cooked kitchen strips - one cup has 38 grams of protein and only 180 calories
Lowfat cottage cheese - one cup has 28 grams of protein and 168 calories
A three ounce can of white-meat chicken has 14 grams of protein and 70 calories
Two sticks of string cheese has 14 grams of protein and 160 calories
A full can of tuna packed in spring water - 37 grams of protein and 175 calories
Reach for the nuts. Keeping nuts around will keep you from binging on high carbohydrate junk food because they are just as convenient for when youhave to eat something now!
Nuts supply you with good fats that can lower your cholesterol as well as fiber and important vitamins and minerals. Make sure to select dry roastedand unsalted. And don't forget, even though it's high in good fats, that still translates to 9 calories per gram. Don't every eat.

The Right Way To Eat For Better Health And Weight Loss
Did you know that how and when you eat is important for good health? For most of your life, you probably have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now depending on your eating habits, this may be okay...but many people skip breakfast because they don't have the time, they have a semi-normal lunch and then a large dinner. Avoid this at all costs...When you wake up, your body is screaming for food- it's been many hours since you last ate. By skipping breakfast, you're depriving your body of the nutrients it needs and forcing it to go into hibernation mode- this slows down your metabolism. Dinner should be your lightest meal of the day because your metabolism is slowest in the evening...yet for many people, it's their largest. That being sai...(related: Weight Loss)

Atkins Diet Plan -- Are Low Carb Diets Doomed?
According to Veronica Atkins, the widow of Dr. Robert Atkins, the cause of his death was from falling on a slippery sidewalk with subsequent irreversible brain damage (from a CNN interview, February, 2004). Many critics of the Atkins Diet Plan claim the fall was due to a heart attack. This has not been verified to date.He was 72 years old. With all due respect to Veronica Atkins, I would like to assume Dr. Atkins did in fact suffer a fatal heart attack. This is in order to answer the following questions...
To Lose Weight, Feed Your Brains
When was the last time you focused so much on a task that you forgot to eat? You did not really forget, but you were too much interested in what you were working on to stop doing it and go to the fridge. Years ago, when your body was slim and your head swollen with projects, did you ever think that to be a grown up would not mean to be responsible and free?Stop looking for somebody to sue: nobody shovelled food in your mouth. Stop whining about commercials that influence you: nobody tied you up in front of the telly. Stop opening your mouth and closing your mind. You know, everybody know, that the higher the education, the lower the weight. If you point at a person you know who has a PhD and 30 extra pounds, you act exactly as those people ...(related: Weight Loss)

Slowing Down Can Help You Lose Weight Faster
Running For Weight Loss??.Slow DownYou may be out running your fat burning hormonesSo you've loved running since your track days of high school. It's simple, you can do it anywhere and all you need is some good running shoes and pair of comfy cotton footies. But now it's taken on a sub-purpose. Age has allowed those extra pounds you use to leave choking on your dust to catch up with you and hit you right in the gut, literally. There are a billion reasons (or excuses) that justify your 10 or even 20 pounds that keep you company. You are busier now, so you don't run as often, or as fast, or as long as you use to. You're getting older and your body can't take the as much. Or maybe it was the curse of the evil eye of all those non-runners over the years. (you know they were really jealous they...(related: Weight Loss)
What Is Back To Normal After Gastric Bypass Surgery?
It is common for new WLS patients to ask, "How soon after surgery will I get back to normal?" This is understandable. We've spent a lifetime dieting for the short-term ? the 30-day diet, the six-week program, the lose-ten-pounds-over-the-weekend diet. Remember thinking, "If I can stick with this plan for just 10 days, then I can go back to normal."The diet industry has conditioned us to think long-term lifestyle changes are unnecessary to accomplish weight loss. We are impatient and demanding, we want a quick fix. Expectations are unrealistic and result in failure, disappointment and self-loathing.But weight loss surgery is for life.To that end, we must re-define normal:Normal is living without co...(related: Weight Loss)
The Tao Of Weight Watchers Part Two
As I explained in the first part of this article, the Weight Watchers' Points system teaches you to budget the amount of kilo joules and fat you consume every day.How many points do you need to consume will depend on your weight, height and gender. There are 2 stages in the process: the "Fast Track" stage, the "Normal" stage, and the "Maintenance" stage. If you are a woman, you can eat a maximum of 18 points per day if you weight 64 kg or under, or up to 22 points per day if you weight 140 kg or over.If you are a man, you can have up to 18 points per day if you weight 64 kg or less, and up to 24 points if you are 140 kg or over...(related: Weight Loss)

Making The Food Pyramid Work After Weight Loss Surgery
A "normal-tummy" looks at the food pyramid from the bottom up ? six to eleven servings of grains, then fruits and vegetables ? then the protein groups: meat and beans and the milk group. The fats, oils and sweets are incidental. After gastric bypass we can read the pyramid from the top down. Scoot to the side the fats, oils and sweets ? we don't eat those anymore. Start with the protein groups ? remember the rule ? protein first! Then have a sample from the fruits and vegetable groups. Then, only if there is room, a taste from the grains group. Fats and oils will be incidental ...(related: Weight Loss)
